Resume
What this agent does
The KYC / CIP Verification Agent AI performs the automated checks that underpin every customer's identity verification at LendingIQ — SSN / government ID verification via SSA/eCBSV and trusted identity services, government ID document authentication, prior CIP record matching, and cross-field consistency verification across all identity documents. It produces a structured KYC / CIP verification report that tells the onboarding team exactly what was checked, what was found, and whether the KYC / CIP file is complete, needs additional information, or cannot proceed. It does not accept a customer's KYC / CIP — that is a human-authorized act recorded in the institutional CIP system.
Primary functions
SSN / Government ID Verification
Every individual applicant — synchronousInvoked when: applicant submits SSN / government ID and consent for identity verification during onboarding
- Verifies the SSN via SSA Consent-Based Verification (eCBSV) or equivalent trusted identity services — confirming the SSN is valid and matches applicant name and date of birth where available. Document-based verification (driver's license, passport, state ID) supplements electronic checks. Liveness detection in the Fraud Detection Agent AI confirms the applicant is physically present.
- Validates government-issued photo ID against document authentication services and bureau records — confirming document integrity, issuer-validated name and date of birth, and consistency with the SSN verification outcome.
- Cross-checks name and date of birth across SSN verification, photo ID, pay stubs, bank statements, and employer records. Minor variations (initials, suffixes, maiden names) are minor discrepancies requiring review; material mismatches are verification failures.
- Does not store full SSN or unnecessary biometric data beyond what GLBA and applicable state privacy laws permit. Only verification outcomes and minimal corroborating fields are retained in the CIP record.
CIP Prior Record Match
Every applicant — existing KYC / CIP check before fresh collectionInvoked when: SSN or customer identifier is available — prior CIP record check runs before requesting fresh KYC / CIP documents
- Queries prior CIP and bureau records using the applicant's SSN and identifiers to check whether a prior CIP record already exists from a prior interaction with another financial institution. If a prior record exists, it retrieves verification status, date, and originating institution — reducing duplicate document collection.
- Compares demographic fields in the prior CIP record against the current submission — flagging address, name, or date-of-birth changes. Minor discrepancies go to the CIP officer; material mismatches require fresh verification.
- Determines whether the existing prior CIP record satisfies LendingIQ's requirements for the product tier (simplified / normal / enhanced CIP).
- If no prior record exists, the agent triggers fresh document collection. On successful CIP completion, it produces the CIP update payload for human submission — a human-authorized act.
Video KYC / CIP Outcome Integration
For applicants completing V-CIP pathwayInvoked when: Video KYC / CIP Moderator AI has completed a V-CIP session and the outcome needs to be integrated into the overall KYC / CIP verification report
- Reads the structured output from the Video KYC / CIP Moderator AI — session pass/refer verdict, compliance checklist outcome, face match result, liveness check outcome, and any moderator notes — and integrates it with the SSN / government ID verification results and Prior CIP match results to produce a complete KYC / CIP file status.
- Checks that the V-CIP session outcome satisfies the Fed / OCC V-CIP (Video based Customer Identification Process) requirements for the applicable customer category: that the OVD presented during the session matches the OVD on file, that the customer's face was visible throughout, that the session was conducted in a single sitting without interruption, and that the date and time watermark from the V-CIP system confirms the session was live.
- Identifies any remaining KYC / CIP gaps that the V-CIP session did not address — for example, a V-CIP session that verified identity but did not collect the address proof separately required for the applicable KYC / CIP category. Flags these as open items before the KYC / CIP file can be considered complete.
